Basanti Sengupta was a gifted vocalist whose musical journey began in childhood with All India Radio. Trained by her father, Sri Gopal Dasgupta, and eminent maestros, she became a noted interpreter of ragpradhan and adhunik Bengali music. Through radio, teaching, institution building, and preserving her father’s compositions, she left a lasting mark on Bengal’s musical heritage.
